Dear Families,

Evergreen Crest Academy was founded on a simple belief: young children thrive when learning feels meaningful and when school and home work together with intention. Throughout my years in education, I have seen that children grow in confidence when they are encouraged to ask questions and make discoveries that connect their classroom work to the world around them.

That philosophy guides every part of our program. Through Field Study experiences, students explore the Puget Sound region through hands‑on learning. Whether examining a shoreline habitat or noticing patterns in nature, they document what they see. This work builds early skills in literacy, mathematics, science, and communication while helping students grow as capable and curious learners.

Technology supports this process in thoughtful ways. Young students use digital tools to record observations, revisit their learning, and strengthen early academic growth. These tools are introduced gradually and with purpose, giving children opportunities to build confidence in a modern learning environment without replacing real interaction or outdoor exploration.

Evergreen Crest Academy welcomes families from a wide range of backgrounds, and this diversity enriches our community. Students learn alongside peers whose experiences and perspectives differ from their own, creating a school culture where every child feels valued and every family has a place.

Families play an essential role in this work. We gather for Gallery Walks, where students share their projects and communicate their thinking. These events give families a chance to engage with their child’s learning journey and help create a connected school community.

As Evergreen Crest Academy opens as a K–1 independent school in the 2027–28 school year, Field Study Outings will be woven into the curriculum as a signature part of the student experience. Our approach blends strong academic foundations with real‑world learning, giving children the skills and habits needed for long‑term success.

Our programs remain intentionally small (10:1) to ensure personalized attention and a supportive learning environment for every child. Families seeking an academically rich elementary experience that nurtures curiosity, character, and a genuine joy of learning are encouraged to explore Evergreen Crest Academy early.

Instructional Expertise in Humanities

Raised on the islands of Guam & Hawaiʻi, Mrs. Verango brings over 25 years of experience to her work in the beautiful state of Washington: 12 years teaching Montessori Pre-K and 10+ years teaching grades 6–12. She holds a bachelor’s and two master’s degrees in education, is endorsed in ELA, and is WA State certified in secondary education. She is a devoted wife and mother of three adult children and a proud grandmother.

Ms. Hirose

Dear Families,

My mission is to instill the confidence and perseverance students need to fearlessly become the best version of themselves. Too often, learners give up when discouraged. In our caring, small-group environment, we help students tackle challenges, build problem-solving skills, and strengthen their reading, writing, and math fundamentals.

Learning never stops—I still love challenging myself as a lifelong learner. Evergreen Crest Academy is the perfect school to exercise young minds, build academic fluency, and make new friends along the way.

Above all, we desire to nurture kind, responsible, and well-rounded individuals. By celebrating each student's unique spark, we meet them exactly where they are on their learning journey.

Ms. J. Hirose, Co-Director, ECA Director of Operations & Finance

Instructional Expertise in Math

Raised on Oahu, Hawaii, Ms. Hirose brings over 20 years of international and domestic education experience as both a classroom teacher and administrator. She brings a Masters in Teaching and is WA state certified for grades K-6, and has a BA in International Business. Having worked on the front lines in schools, she understand parents' concerns and value true partnerships. She deeply believe every student can thrive when they feel safe, valued, and heard.
